The rain was torrential all day and we were visited by four people - all of them taking part in the show and coming into our gazebo to shelter from the rain. We felt exttremely sorry for the poor children riding their ponies over the jumps in drenching rain with no-one out to watch them.....but of course, it's summer in Britain !!!

October 2011
Sun 9: Proposed visit to Tony Wilson's workshop at Thorne, near Doncaster. Any members interested in this trip please contact Brian. This visit has now been confirmed for 9th October. The coach will leave the club car park at 0900.
This event was a great success. 27 members made the trip to Tony's and enjoyed a first class full day of demonstrations and an excellent buffet lunch laid on by his wife Elaine, and we all came away with far more timber than we intended to buy. Thanks Tony for a great day out.
Sat 15: A full day demonstration by John Berkeley has been arranged at our club premises for this day. John specialises in threaded boxes and puzzles and is an internationally renowned turner. It is his first visit to our club and we are hoping for an exceptional turnout.
This demonstration is open to other clubs and the public with a ticket price of £5 for the full day. For further information please contact Club Treasurer Brian Haggath on 01642 454064 or email brian@teessidewoodturners.com
This was John's first visit to our club and we were treated to a very informative demonstration on making threaded boxes.
John Berkeley and one of his finished threaded boxes.
Once again our resident professional David Muckle was called upon to stand in at fairly short notice to do a demonstration. We tried a new idea - "Challenge the Professional" i.e. he was given a piece of timber which he could look at in advance but could not do anything with it until the demonstration began. Our chairman Stan Lax presented him with an unbelievably badly shaped elm burr which most of us would have "chucked" in the bin. David "chucked" it in the lathe and in 90 minutes he produced a superb natural edged bowl.
Well done David. As always you came up with a first class demonstration. The club is deeply indebted to you.
David Muckle.
Wed 2: We have an extra demonstration tonight. Charles Anderson of Charnwood Tools will be giving a "Bandsaw Masterclass" - showing us how to correctly set up and use the bandsaw. He will be accompanied by Craig Lund, owner of Cleveland Woodcraft in Sotherby Road, Middlesbrough.
Thanks Charlie for a very informative demonstration.
